The Strategic Design Fellows program gave my peers and I the opportunity to work in teams to design an experiential marketing campaign for Adobe's B2B product.

My Role: As Account Supervisor, I conducted interview with an industry professional to develop personas for target market and assisted with developing creative messaging.

EVERFI Intern Shark Tank:

Going Green

EVERFI's summer internship program tasked my fellow interns and I with pitching a potential digital course idea for the company. My teammates and I created an environmental education course for middle school students called "Going Green".

My Role: I researched competitors and created a brand positioning map as well as developed the marketing strategies for our course.

Retail Business Challenge:

The Move

In the Strategic Design Fellows program tasked my peers and I with developing a potential business for the College Park Discovery District. My teammates and I created a concept for a nightclub called The Move to provide more nightlife options for young people in the area.

My Role: I developed marketing strategies and created mood boards for the interior and exterior of the building.

The Washington Times Advertising Challenge

The Strategic Design Fellows program tasked our team with developing strategies to increase brand awareness for the newspaper which would ultimately result in increased subscriptions to their digital platform. I worked on making personas that represented their desired target markets, creating a storyboard for a potential television ad, and devising a campaign slogan.

My Role: Account Supervisor - I served as liaison between TWT executives and our agency team, developed target personas, and drafted storyboard for potential TV campaign.

S.O.C.K.S. Nonprofit Brand Awareness / Fundraising Challenge

I participated in a competition called CREATE, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation Foundation (AAF). My team and I were tasked with developing fundraising programs for a Washington D.C. nonprofit, So Others Can Keep Striding (SOCKS), which aims to provide socks and professional development skills to those experiencing homelessness.

My Role: I researched competitors and helped develop fundraising tactics.

M.A.N.E. Strategic Marketing Plan

In my Writing for Non-Profit course, I was tasked with creating a strategic marketing plan or proposal for a nonprofit or campus organization I was involved with. As Webmaster for M.A.N.E., I developed a strategic marketing plan for the organization that could help future Webmasters for the organization have streamlined marketing activities. I included a SWOT Analysis, content calendars, and best email marketing strategies.

I served as Webmaster for UMD's Maintaining a Natural Essence (M.A.N.E) 2019-2020 school year. It is an organization focused on promoting the natural hair movement within the Black community. I handled the organization's social media (Instagram and Twitter), in addition to email marketing and flyer designs. As the Webmaster, I also gained experience with email marketing by using Mailchimp to deploy weekly newsletters from M.A.N.E. to the campus community.

This is the newsletter design I developed for the 2019-2020 school year. I improved accessibility by choosing a color scheme that would make text easy to read. I also created persuasive email subject lines to improve open rates.

As part of the Strategic Design and Innovation Fellows program, I took a course in Computer Graphics. I used Adobe InDesign to create a potential magazine spread.
